08 April Back Again!!!My Gosh!!! For how many months have I disappeared! Sorry Guys!
So here's some highlights of the life in the past year (2007). Busy at my work. Then I went to Shanghai in May for business trip and stayed there for an extra 4 days to visit the city and Hangzhou. Came back to work after holidays - even busier - because I had to get ready for the audit in July. The audit was successful, then life becamse more relaxed until December because I took my Driving Test on the 26th (that's why I didn't really enjoy my Christmas holidays becayse I was so nervous beforehand). Luckily I passed the test and got my Driving License. Between 27 Dec to 3 Jan, I went to Malaysia with my best best friends. It was an exciting trip, a lot of happy memories (see my updated new photo album) - I hope I will tell you more about this trip as it was one of the best trip I've ever had. Then back to Macau again and worked, worked and worked until Chinese New Year. I love New Year Time not just because of the atmosphere and delicacies, but most importantly, $$$ HAHA!!! I GOT A LOT OF LAI SI!!! After New Year, the Goddess of Fortune suddenly left me! I actually found that I got a big nump on my right side of my neck. The doctor told me that I had a congenital disease known as "Branchial Cleft Cyst" and urged me to get a surgery (since the disease cannot be cured by any kind of medication). I took the surgery on 10 March in HK and stayed in hospital for 4 days and took an extra 1 week sick leave. I am recovering now and is progressing well, the cyst has been taken out and it's examied begnin (thx God). What has been left to my body is a 4-cm scar on the right side of my neck. The time when I was sick is one of my hardest moments in my life. I realized that HEALTH is so so precious to me and I promise I will take good care of myself. And also I'd like to take this chance to give thanks to my family, my best best friends and kind colleagues who gave me the greatest support during the time when I was sick!!! I LOVE YOU ALL~~~
01 January New Year, New GoalHappy New Year!!!
Are you guys ready to face another 365 days of great challenges*?
* can also be excitements/happiess/whatever you want to add
God bless you all~ 25 December Amazing December, and the latest updatesHey my dearest all~ Greetings! After 7 months of disappearance, here I'm back again to the Blog, and want to share with you guys my latest updates.
For those who have not yet informed: I'm no longer working for Jingdou Language Centre. I'm right now working as a Occupational Safety Officer (my"official" title is Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Officer) for Chubb Macau (www.chubb.com.hk). This post is extremely challenging and, thanks God, I'm granted a chance to show my talent. Every colleague (from Macauas well as from Asia Region) is very friendly and cooperative--and I'm glad be part of the company.
"Work hard but no play" is not good
Planning for a trip is not hard at all. Just a week ago I, my friend Dino and my "sisters" & "brother-in-law" all flew to, in my point of view, the most exotic and amazing city in Asia -- Bangkok, the City of Life. Believe me or not, this trip is planned in less than a month! More specifically, the "concept-to-action" time, I should say, was no longer than an hour.
This 4-day-3-night trip to Bangkok is just awesome. Not not did I enjoyed the best and most traditional Thai food. but also I was well-equipped with Baht for my crazy shopping there! Now, I should say Bangkok, but no longer Hong Kong, is the Heaven of Shopping in Asia!!!
But the best of this trip is~ I was accompanied on the journey by my best friends. What can be much better than this?
My dear all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
15 May Ave Maria, Gratia Plena, Dominus TecumMay is the month appointed specially by the Church in honouring Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
The Possession of Our Lady of Fatima, which is one of the most important traditional Catholic events in Macau, held this year on May 13.
This is my second time joining the Possession, and it is my true honour to participate again in this sacred feast.
The Possession started at 6:30 pm, after an hour-durated Mass in the Church of Sto. Domingo. Thousands of Catholics stepped following the altar, on which the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was laid. The journey started from the Church of Sto. Domingo at the Senate's Square, via the Cathedral, City Centre, Praia Grande, Sai Wan, Ex-Governor's Palace, Castle of Santiago, Penha Hill, and finally ended at the Chapel of Our Lady on the top of Penha Hill.
The atmosphere was inspiring, peaceful and celestial. Throughout the Possession Rosary prayers were said, hymns were sung, and candles were lighted.
The climax was reached when all of the faithful ones gathered together at the little square in front of the Chapel of Our Lady following 2-hour non-stopping prayers. Everyone gave glory and praised the Lord of the Most High, and chanted resoundingly "Ave...Ave....Ave Maria".
Osanna in excelsis---Hossana in the Highest!
After the possession, I went down along the staircases by which I was led to a small cave under the chapel, in which a small altar was laid. I put my candle in front of the altar, and said my little private prayer to God.
What a fantastic and unforgettable night! My heart was full of undescribable happiness, and I returning home with peerless peace.

24 April I'm a Carnivore!
I'm a Carnivore! 22 April Grown and ChangedSorry to my dear friends~
It has been a long time since I logged-in my msn space in January. I was and am sooooo lazieeeee...Many apologies!
Anyways, new photos were added---photos taken last week in Guangzhou. It was a fantastic trip, and......
What a great challenge!
1989 AD summer---my first time to visit Guangzhou.
2006 AD Easter---my second time to visit Guangzhou.
One backpack, one map, one bottle of fresh water, enough cash, my ID, and, I went.
What a big, crowded, messy, exciting, impressive historic megaopolis!
With the map as my only guide, I walked and discovered from the new Guangzhou to the old Guangzhou, from the busy commercial centre to the shadowed old town, from the noisy marketplace to the tranquil riverside.
The city has grown, and is still growing.
The sceneries have been changed, and are still being changed.
It is the progression, isn't it?
18 January The Power of Tarot
03 January An Unforgettable '06 New Year Countdown2005 ended, 2006 comes.
Believe me or not, it was the first new year countdown in my life.
Before I left for Toronto, I spent my new year day with my family, so, no countdown.......
After I left for Toronto, the severely coldness stopped me from shouting "Happy New Year" at Nathan Phillip's Square.
This year, I did.
And it was a fantastic and unforgettable experience.
Macau once again re-energizes. Everywhere in Macau is vitality.
On New Year Eve, everywhere in downtown Macau and seaside was crowded with celebrating people.
Families, Friends, Couples, bfs & gfs, all overwhelmed by happiness.
Laughs, Cheers, Joys....
What more? A super warm temperature! It made the city's celebration more excellent.
5...4...3...2...1....Happy New Year!!!
Fireworks first came from Fisherman's Wharf, then from Lake Nan Wan.
Spectacular explosion mixed with prasing noises.....and......SMS messages and phone calls filled with greetings.
What made the nght more perfect.....of course family and friends, how can I exclude them!
Happy New Year and Best Wishes! 04 November Air Macau....SighThis morning as I was roaming through the internet, I accidentally found a site where people could give coments on the air carriers they had ever travelled. As I was reading the comment, I found a column "Comments on Air Macau". Curiously, I clicked the column. NOT surprisingly (notice the word NOT), 90% of the people in the discussion board gave negative comments on Air Macau.
The reason I said "Not surprisingly" is because I do agree with all those 90% commentators. Air Macau flight from Macau to Taipei was the worst flight I have ever travelled! The ground staff in MFM did not show any professionalism at all---she chatted with her colleagues beside her (sometimes even gossiped) during the time she was issueing my and my friend Dino's boarding passes without showing any respect for both of us. Her altitude is totally unacceptable! Rude and did not smile at all. She didn't even greet and thank us, and I didn't even hear a "please" from her (e.g. instead of saying "Can I have your passport please", she said "Give me your passport"). When asking her questions, she answered very impatiently.
En Route flight and service: The seats in the plane (A320) were small and, in my point of view, dirty (especially the white blanket taped on the top of the seat's back where you lie your head on). All the announcements en route were spoken in English and Mandarin; Cantonese, however, was totally ignored. I think Air Macau should never forget that Cantonese is one of the official languages in Macau (actually, the dominant one) and should use it during every announcement to reinforce the image of Macau (I am not saying that I don't understand mandarin, but c'mon, show respect for our official language). Furthermore, the food was not tasty at all (even worse, there was no drink selection), the entertainment boring, design outdated, the crew impatient and rushing.........in short.........Air Macau gave me a bad image! I was totally "impressed"! As a Macau local I have a great expectation on Macau's only "national" air carrier. But, to my great disappointment, it is the worst air carrier I have ever chosen (even Air Canada, the airline I considered as the worst, is 1000 times better)......shame! 03 November 24: New Stage, New Life, New MeThe number "Twenty-Four" represents many things. A few examples will be:
It is the number of hours in a day.
It is the number of cycles in the Chinese Solar Year (i.e., 廿四節氣).
It is the number of teeth in a healthy kid's mouth.
It is the number of karats representing 100% pure gold.
It is the number of frames being projected per second in a traditional motion picture film.
It is the number of bits which a computer needs to represent truecolour images.
It is the number of points in the game backgammon.
.
.
.
.
The number "Twenty-Four" to me, represents the starting point of a new stage. A stage I bid farewell to my long summer holidays; a stage I bid farewell to the time when receiving pocket money from my parents; a stage I bid farewell to my class-skipping university life; a stage I bid farewell to my little greenhouse, a stage I bid farewell to my dependent life-----in short------it is the stage I say goodbye to the "Old Me".
Stepping into my Year 24, I am offered a vista full of opportunities and yet risks. It is the time I have to face the real society, the real challenge......and my blurry future. It is the time I have to adapt and to fit, just as what Charles Darwin had stated in his The Origin of Species: "Survival of fittest".
Ciao, my Years 0 to 23.
And here I come, my Year 24 and Beyond.......
02 November Not Easy to Earn a BuckMy part time job starts!
This is what had happened:
Last week, I received a phone call from my friend Dino, who told me that his friend's cousin (woo.....complex relationship) was seeking for a private form 4 chemistry-physics-math tutor, and asked if I was interested. After hearing the news, I actually hesitated for secs as I was doubting my ability. Honestly, Chemistry, to me, is quite ok, at least I have spent quite a lot of time on this subject while in university.
Physics......mmmm.......well.......merely.....it is not my major, but at least I have taken one physics course in my first year, so, ok lah. The super big problem falls on math. Although I have taken several math-related courses while in university (calculus and statistics), they were quite different in nature from the form 4 math, which deals with algebra, trigonometry, geometry and so on. Thus I have to say that I haven't touch these mathemetical fields for at least 5 years.
But, after minutes of hestitation, I persuaded myself to take the task, well, I believed that as a bechelor, I was able to make use of my knowledge to help the juniors, and, of course, I need $$$.
After that, I spent the whole night staying in my storage room and seeked for my high school textbooks, which I have hidden in a forgotten place for years. Since then, until yesterday, I actually sat in front of my desk and "studied".....oh my god.....I have not actually studied ever since I finished my graduation exam (I actually miss it but don't wanna continue any longer)-----Hoping that I would remember as much stuff that I had learnt before as I could in such a short period of time!!!
The first day passed.....it was quite ok lah.....As I have expected, math remains as my poorest field and so.....better to take longer time to "study"....it's not that easy to earn a buck :<
By the way, congraduations to Macau Team for winning 7 gold medals (so far) and numerous of silver and bronze medals in East Asian Games! So proud of Macau!!!
30 October 4th East Asian GamesFinally, after years of long waiting, the 4th East Asian Games, which is hosted in Macau, officially starts. It is the first time for Macau to host alarge-scale sports tournament. Long before the Games actually starts, people kept on doubting if a little city like Macau had the ability to hold an impressive EAG. But tonight (I should say last night)all the doubts ceased--we still have to see as the Games still has 8 days to proceed--but at least tonight, the Games' opening ceremony was a great success. After 8 months of rehearsal, over 2000 performances put on the stage a 2-hour-long musical about the story of Macau, which told all the people around the world how Macau developed from a small unknown fish village to one of the world's most energetic and appealing cities.
And what a surprise! Stephanie Sun (孫燕姿) was one of the performers for the opening ceremony!
Good Music, Good Performers, Good Dance, Good Costumes..... What else can I say----Macau Can Do It!!! |
